Katsuyama City is one of the most famous sightseeing spots in Fukui. It is a peaceful town surrounded by beautiful mountains including the sacred mountain, Hakusan. It is a town famous for dinosaurs, and fossils of dinosaurs such as Fukuiraptor are excavated here. In Katsuyama, we have the Prefectural Dinosaur Museum which is one of the world’s three biggest dinosaur museums. We also have SKI JAM Katsuyama which is one of the largest ski sites in Western Japan. In summer, you can enjoy paragliding there. From spring to fall, you can enjoy “Hakusan Heisenji Temple”, it is the base for the Hakusan-mountain faith.

You should also see our seasonal traditional events such as unique festival called “Sagicho Festival”, or “Katsuyama Toshi-no-Ichi”, Japanese style Market which sells many local products.
